As part of the tour to some islands of Faafu Atoll, President Mohamed Nasheed has today visited Faafu Dharan’boodhoo, and addressed the people of the island.

President Nasheed assured that the government will not let the challenges faced in smaller, and less populated islands stand in the way of delivering economic development to the people.

Reflecting on the many challenges faced in Dharan’boodhoo, the President was hopeful that the construction of the Dharan’boodhoo harbour would begin in the near future. He also said that the construction of an orphanage, a pre-school and a City Hotel would also begin soon.

At the meeting, the President encouraged the islanders to voice their opinions of areas in need of industrial and economic development for the island.

The President later visited government institutions in the island, and met with senior officials to hold discussions on the various island development programmes.
