President Mohamed Nasheed has last evening met with the people of Funadhoo of North Miladhunmadulu Atoll.

 
Addressing the people of Funadhoo, the President declared that the government has achieved the aim of its education policy in Funadhoo.
 
Stating that the aim of the government’s education policy was ensuring at least 60 percent of students who took General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level Examinations passed five subjects, the President rejoiced that 67 percent of students from Funadhoo, who took the exam in 2010, passed five subjects.
 
Furthermore, he noted that 5 students from the island were also among the students who achieved top results in 2010 exams.
 
In his address, the President also reiterated that most of the public services available in the country were substandard, and at least one third of the country could not also afford these inferior services available in the country.
 
He said it was necessary to provide social protection for the people in order to develop the country.
 
Speaking in this regard, the President said, under the government’s pledge to provide affordable healthcare, 327 residents from Funadhoo were insured by Madhana health insurance scheme, while 101 residents received the old age pension, initiated by this administration.
