First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed concluded her visit to Tanzania to participate in the 11th Edition of the Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary Annual Conference as the Guest of Honour. This year’s conference took place from October 29-30, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

At the conference, the First Lady delivered a keynote address at the High-Level First Ladies Panel, emphasising the importance of global collaboration in advancing healthcare, women’s empowerment, and education. She also made an intervention at the Merck Foundation First Ladies Initiative (MFFLI) Committee Meeting, where she expressed her commitment to leveraging her role as the Maldives’ First Lady to address the rise in non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the Maldives.

First Lady Madam Sajidha also met with the First Lady of The Gambia on the sidelines of the conference.

This year’s Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary conference convened healthcare professionals, policymakers, and academics for in-depth discussions on advancing women’s empowerment, enhancing disease management, and expanding access to quality healthcare across Africa and Asia.
