President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday stated that the success of reforms can be measured by the level of peace and harmony that exists within society, and that changes imposed through disruption and violence do not result in peace and stability. He made this remark in an address given on the occasion of the International Day of Non-Violence.

In his message, the President said that the goal of celebrating the International Day of Non-Violence is to work towards social and political changes while avoiding violence and injustice. He said that the people want positive reforms and that this cannot be accomplished through power and brute force.

To commemorate the day, the Ministry of Home Affairs also presented the President with a badge.

Every year, October 2nd is celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence. The day has been observed by the United Nations since 2007, with the aim of promoting dialogue concerning peace, tolerance, understanding, and non-violence.
