The High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Maldives, Rear Admiral Nazmul Hassan paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem this morning at the President’s Office.

The Vice President congratulated the High Commissioner on his appointment and expressed his gratitude towards the Government of Bangladesh for their friendly relations and assistance provided to the Maldives.

The Vice President highlighted the positive contributions of Bangladeshi expatriates working and residing in the Maldives and thanked the Government of Bangladesh for their ongoing support to the Maldives' worker regularization and repatriation programs. Citing the high number of Bangladeshi workers contributing to our workforce, the Vice President stated that the Government will ensure the safety and security of all expatriates working and residing in the Maldives.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh also thanked Government of the Maldives for the effort and assistance provided to help Bangladeshi Nationals working and residing in the Maldives during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Vice President and High Commissioner discussed taking forward bilateral cooperation in a range of fields from higher education, agriculture and other avenues for increased cooperation and collaboration.
