Vice President Faisal Naseem held discussions this morning with senior officials of the Drug Court. The discussions were held this morning following the Vice President’s visit to the court premises where he checked on the efficiency of court functions and progress of their mandate.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vice President expressed his sincere gratitude to the members of the court for their tenacious dedication to providing respite to victims of drug addiction and to safeguard our younger generations from narcotics abuse. He further acknowledged the indispensable contributions of the Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services; and Maldives Police Service through their joint-efforts to aid victims.
Vice President Faisal Naseem also highlighted that the Government considers the rehabilitation of victims of narcotics abuse a key obligation in order to deliver the pledge of safety and social security. He called on all involved persons and organisations to continue to work with diligence and expressed his confidence in the Government’s policy of impartiality and fairness for all persons regardless of their situation.
Senior officials from the Drug Court also spoke during the meeting and shared their concerns regarding difficulties in operations of the court; training and educational opportunities for judges and administration; and scarcity of space and human resources.
The meeting was also joined by Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla; Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Aishath Mohamed Didi; Minister at the President’s Office, Ahmed Sameer; and Undersecretary at the President’s Office, Dr Abdul Malik.
