Those with Anti-Islamic views have no right to have an opinion about the Maldives – President Yameen

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that those who are against the Islamic religion have no right to interfere with, or comment on the internal affairs of the Maldives. The President made this remark while speaking at a function organized by the Progressive Party of Maldives, on Tuesday evening.

In his speech, President Yameen highlighted that the most important principles of a democratic system was the separation of powers, popular sovereignty, and equality before the law. Speaking in this regard, he noted that every country adopts the system of democracy most suited for them.

He further said that the Maldives’ Constitution states the country’s religion as Islam, as it is important for the Maldivian people.

The President was accompanied at the function by Cabinet Ministers and Members of the Parliament.
